1960

Foundation of Citrus of Chiriqui, S.A.

Daniel K. Ludwig, known as the "Invisible Billionaire," founded Cítricos de Chiriquí, S.A.

Ludwig, a business visionary with a global empire in various sectors, saw the potential of this Panamanian region for the production of orange juice concentrate for export to the United States. Consolidating the project as one of the most ambitious agricultural investments in Panama.

1973-1993

State Administration

Panamanian government assumes state control of the company after agreement with Ludwig

The Panamanian national government managed the company during this period, assuming control of operations following a compensation agreement with Ludwig.

1993

First privatization process in Panama

On December 17, 1993, Cítricos, S.A. became the first company to be privatized.

Cítricos, S.A. becomes the first state-owned company to be privatized in Panama through the sale of its shares on the Panama Stock Exchange. Acquisition by Mr. Guillermo Cárdenas Peláez, a businessman with great entrepreneurial vision and work ethic, who led the company's transition to the private sector and consolidated its structure.

1994

Expansion of operations and modernization

In the decades of 1994 Cítricos S.A. modernizes its processes

Under private management, Cítricos S.A. modernizes its processes, expanding its capacity and consolidating its position as a leader in the production of juice concentrate in Panama, among other products.

2024

Generational change

Innovation and leadership in the market of juices, concentrates, bee honey, among others.

With more than 60 years of experience, Cítricos S.A. continues to be the largest orange grower in Panama, with more than 4,000 hectares, and is a pioneer in the development of new products and sustainable practices. The company has the largest cold storage capacity in the region and collaborates with local universities in agricultural research. Current mission: Excellence in the production and export of juice concentrate, and expansion in products derived from citrus and other crops.
